"Smart Libraries" is a proposed franchise of libraries within the slums of Africa that will celebrate indigenous African cultures and African storytelling. The Prototype Smart Library will be built in the Kibera slums of Kenya. "Smart Libraries" is the project of the Pencils for Africa (PFA) school program (see 'The Story of PFA'). In the summer of 2018, PFA Board Vice Chair, Rutendo Urenje, who is based in Geneva, Switzerland, traveled to Kenya to visit the Kibera slums to conduct field research for the Smart Library Prototype.
